Here’s my live-drawing and some detail shots from last night’s Balthrop, Alabama set at Joe’s Pub. Bernie DeChant snapped that sweet show pic. Hot Holy Wow, was this a fun night! The audience was packed with people drawing and sketching us and we had a damn party on stage. I can’t believe how much fun it was. Thanks to everyone at Joe’s Pub, Lauretta Charlton, Shanta Thake, Emefe and all the amazing artists who came along to draw! And special thanks to Michael Kalman and Stillman & Birn for providing drawing pads to all the artists and musicians. I used the Beta Series sketchbook they gave me to do the drawing during the set!

Michael Arthur (Inklines) here for my last post of drawings we’ve received in response to our open call for artists who want to come in and draw at The Pub.
Today’s drawings come from Mountvision, a sketchbook blogger whose work I admire a lot. I strongly recommend following this gifted sketcher for portraits of daily life in NYC …
It has been a real delight looking through and sharing this work and I apologize to anyone whose drawings we didn’t get to. I’m really looking forward to tonight’s show with Balthrop, Alabama and Emefe. As you may know we’ve invited everyone who submitted work to come to the show tonight and sketch away. Joe’s Pub is dedicated to continuing the tradition of drawing musicians and performers and we look forward to the next phase of this project!

Going through my phone, I came across this panorama shot of The Decemberists I took at Bonnaroo a few years back. Thought I’d share it along with the drawing I did of Colin Meloy from the same spot that day…
